About the ASVAB & How to Register

The ASVAB is administered by the U.S. military and is available in two formats: the CAT-ASVAB (computer-adaptive test) taken at a Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS), and the paper-and-pencil version (P&P-ASVAB) sometimes offered at schools or Military Entrance Test (MET) sites. Most applicants take the computerized version. There is no registration fee — the test is free for all applicants.

Students typically take the ASVAB through a military recruiter, who coordinates scheduling. If you score below the required AFQT threshold, you must wait one calendar month before retaking it; a second retest requires a six-month wait. Learn more at officialasvab.com.
