Dysgraphia Coaching
Dysgraphia affects handwriting, written expression, and the physical act of getting thoughts onto paper. We help students lower friction by building writing supports and helpful tools.
A Learning Difference That Often Goes Unnoticed
Dysgraphia does not get talked about nearly as much as dyslexia, and research backs this up. A 2024 study of Australian educators found that dysgraphia is frequently "not something that's necessarily on the radar" for teachers, many of whom described learning how to support it only on the job, largely through their own self-guided research, rather than through formal training.
The result is that students with dysgraphia can go without the right support for years, not because anyone is failing them intentionally, but because the condition is genuinely under-recognized. We treat dysgraphia as its own distinct challenge, not an afterthought to dyslexia, and build support specifically for how it shows up in writing.
How learning is affected
Students may know the answer but struggle to write it clearly and comfortably.
Handwriting fatigue can slow homework, note-taking, and tests.
Writing support helps students express ideas without being held back by motor strain.
How We Support Students With Dysgraphia
Writing Supports
We help organize ideas before the writing starts, using sentence starters and planning tools so getting words down is not the first hurdle a student has to clear.
Assistive Tools
We use typing, dictation, and formatting tools when helpful. Voice-to-text and touch-typing are valid, valuable tools, not a shortcut, and we help students get genuinely comfortable using them.
Motor-Friendly Practice
We reduce physical strain with tools like pencil grips, slant boards, and lined paper suited to the student, while explicitly and repeatedly practicing letter formation.
Explicit, Repetitive Instruction
Handwriting and sentence construction are taught directly and systematically, not assumed. We break skills down and repeat them consistently until they feel automatic.
Beyond working directly with students, we also offer 1:1 parent coaching, helping families build awareness of their child's profile and adapt their parenting and support style at home so progress continues between sessions.
