About the GRE & How to Register

The GRE General Test is administered by ETS (Educational Testing Service) and is available as a computer-based test at Prometric testing centers worldwide, as well as via an at-home proctored option. The test can be taken once every 21 days, up to five times within any continuous 12-month period. The registration fee is $220 in the U.S. (fee waivers are available for eligible test-takers through ETS).

Students register and schedule their test at ets.org/gre, where they can also access official practice tests, score reporting options, and information on sending scores to graduate programs. Scores are valid for five years.
