Highly Capable (HiCap) Support
Advanced learners need more than the standard pace. We help highly capable students go deeper, move faster, and stay genuinely challenged, whether they are in a school HiCap program or simply ready for more than their grade level offers.
What Is the Highly Capable Program?
In Washington, the Highly Capable Program (often called HiCap) provides services for students who perform, or show potential to perform, at significantly advanced levels compared to their peers. Districts identify these students, often beginning in the elementary years, and provide accelerated or enriched instruction. You can read more on the OSPI Highly Capable Program page.
How We Support Highly Capable Students
Acceleration
When a student has already mastered grade-level material, we move them forward into more advanced content rather than holding the pace, keeping them engaged and appropriately challenged.
Depth & Enrichment
We push beyond surface coverage into deeper analysis, open-ended problems, and cross-connections between subjects, the kind of thinking that keeps bright students genuinely interested.
HiCap Identification Prep
For families pursuing HiCap placement, we help students prepare for the cognitive and achievement assessments districts use, and help parents understand the process.
Balancing Ability and Age
Advanced academics do not always move at the same speed as executive functioning or social-emotional development. We support the whole student, not just the intellect.
