About the MCAT & How to Register

The MCAT is a computer-based test administered by the AAMC (Association of American Medical Colleges) at Prometric testing centers; there is no paper option. It is offered approximately 25 times per year from January through September, with seats filling quickly for spring dates. The registration fee is $335 for most test dates, with an additional fee for late registration. Test-takers may take the MCAT up to three times in a single year, four times in two years, and seven times total over a lifetime.

Most medical schools see all MCAT attempts, so timing and preparation matter significantly. Students register through the AAMC at aamc.org, where official practice exams and score preview options are also available.
