Other Learning Differences
Beyond dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia, students can face a range of other learning challenges that affect how they communicate and produce written work. We provide patient, individualized support for these differences, meeting each student where they are.
Areas We Support
Speech Delays
When spoken language develops more slowly, it can affect participation, reading, and confidence in the classroom. We work patiently at the student's pace, building vocabulary and communication skills alongside academic content.
Speech Impediments (e.g. Stuttering)
Stuttering affects around 1% of people and often makes reading aloud, answering questions, and presenting feel stressful, even though it has nothing to do with a student's intelligence. We create a low-pressure, patient environment, never rush or finish words for a student, and allow extra time so pressure does not compound the difficulty. Speaking at a relaxed, unhurried pace helps, and we focus on the ideas a student is expressing rather than the disfluencies along the way.
Handwriting
Difficulty forming letters legibly or writing at a reasonable speed can slow down every subject. We support handwriting through structured practice and, where helpful, strategies and accommodations that reduce the physical strain of writing.
Typing & Keyboarding
For many students, typing is a practical alternative or complement to handwriting. We help students build typing fluency so they can get their ideas down efficiently and keep up with the demands of modern schoolwork.
How We Approach These Challenges
We start by understanding exactly where the difficulty lies and how it shows up across a student's schoolwork, not just in one subject.
We build a patient, encouraging environment where students can practice and make mistakes without pressure or embarrassment.
We combine direct skill-building with practical accommodations, so students make real progress while still being able to keep up with their coursework.
Beyond working directly with students, we also offer 1:1 parent coaching, helping families build awareness of their child's profile and adapt their parenting and support style at home so progress continues between sessions.
